Winter Holiday Clinics

  • Monday July 14 to Wednesday July 16
  • 9am to 12pm each day

  • For players aged U6 to U18 in either Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced clinics
  • Loads of fun, skills-based activities, and small-sided games
  • Delivered by NWS Spirit FC’s qualified coaches in a safe, inclusive environment

Panelists announced for NWSF’s Female Football Week Special Presentation!

North West Sydney Football (NWSF) is set to host a landmark event during Female Football Week with its Special Presentation Panel on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Christie Park. From 6.30pm to 7.30pm, the panel will feature prominent figures in Australian football: Sam McGowan, coach of the Western Sydney Wanderers; Nicole Zosh, General Manager of Marketing at Football Australia; and Isabella Mossin, a respected A-League referee. ​

This event aims to spotlight the achievements and experiences of women in football, offering insights into working professionally in football at the highest levels. Sam McGowan will share her journey in coaching, discussing the challenges and triumphs of leading an A-League side. Nicole Zosh will provide perspectives on promoting women’s football and engaging audiences nationwide. Isabella Mossin will discuss her path in officiating and provide insight into what it’s like refereeing both in NWSF and the A-Leagues

The panel is part of NWSF’s broader Female Football Week celebrations, which include our Girls Academy trials (Friday May 2), female-only coaching courses, and Spirit FC’s Womens First Grade match, aimed at empowering female players and leaders in the sport. Attendees can expect an evening of engaging discussions, networking opportunities, and inspiration from some of the leading women in Australian football.​

Female Football Week events are here for 2025!

The North West Sydney Football (NWSF) and NWS Spirit FC community is gearing up to celebrate Female Football Week with a series of exciting events aimed at empowering and supporting female players, coaches, and fans from May 2 to May 12.

The celebrations begin on Friday, May 2, with NWSF Academy Trials for female players (U8 to U18) at Christie Park from 4:30pm. The trials provide a unique opportunity for young girls to experience high-quality coaching in a fun, engaging environment that promotes the NWSF DNA.

On Thursday, May 8, Christie Park will host a Special Presentation at 6:30pm, welcoming local, state, and national football experts for an evening of learning, networking, and celebration of the women’s game.

The weekend sees local pride on full display with the NWS Spirit FC Women’s First Grade home match against Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday, May 11, kicking off at 3:00pm at Christie Park. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the region’s top female talent.

Rounding off the week, a Miniroos Certificate course exclusively for female coaches will be held on Monday, May 12 at Westminster Park from 6:30pm. The course focuses on creating positive, enjoyable environments for U6 to U8 players and is part of NWSF’s commitment to growing female leadership in football.

Female Football Week promises to be a vibrant celebration of women’s contributions to the game, from grassroots to elite levels. We look forward to seeing further events being delivered across our local clubs!

The NWSF Grassroots Coaching Festival is coming soon!

Christie Park will host a Grassroots Coaching Festival where coaches will be able to witness a range of sessions on the field at the same time. The event will feature model sessions relevant for Miniroos, Juniors and Youth coaches. Gain insight into design and delivery of sessions to best engage your players ahead of the NWSF competitions commencing.

This special event takes place Monday March 10, 6.30pm to 8pm at Christie Park. Supported by Football NSW, this event is for coaches of all ages and abilities to develop their skills ahead of the new season! This event is worth 1 CPD hour towards the revalidation of Foundations of Football & C/B Diplomas

NWSF’s coach education kicks into gear for 2025!

North West Sydney Football (NWSF) is thrilled to announce the launch of its comprehensive coach education calendar for 2025. Reflecting our commitment to developing exceptional local coaches, the calendar boasts a wide array of courses and education programs designed to empower individuals at all levels.

“We are passionate about nurturing the next generation of football coaches within our region,” said Tim Palmer, Head of Coach Education and Player Development. “Our commitment to continuous learning, including developing the NWSF DNA is evident in the diverse range of courses we offer, from Miniroos, to DNA in Depths to two C Diplomas each year.”

Key highlights of the NWSF coach education calendar include:

  • NWSF will host six Foundations of Football courses and six Miniroos courses throughout the year, providing essential knowledge and skills for coaches working with young players. This ties into our compulsory coach education program to promote greater education and knowledge in our coaches.
  • The calendar encompasses a wide range of events for coaches of all ages, abilities, and programs, all powered by the expertise of NWS Spirit FC coaches and football leadership.

  • NWSF x Sydney FC Special Presentation / Inside the Female Training Squad: An exclusive opportunity to gain insights into the inner workings of the Sydney FC Women’s team. Find out more here.
  • NWSF Foundations of Football / February, 2 nights: In the first week of February, this two-night course provides a strong foundation for aspiring coaches. Sign up now! This course is free to NWSF coaches using the code FFNWSF-FREE
  • NWSF C Diploma / February: Commencing in February, this advanced diploma offers in-depth coaching knowledge and skills. It is delivered by Victoria Martin (NWS Spirit FC, Beecroft Wombats) alongside Football NSW. Sign up via the FA Learning Platform.
  • NWSF Miniroos Certificate / Early Bird Course: Get your Miniroos certificate completed in February as we prepare for the 2025 NWSF season! Attendance is free for all coaches.

NWSF caters to players of all ages and skill levels, from grassroots juniors learning to love the game to seasoned seniors competing in our advanced leagues. Rising Spirits now ready for our local NWSF Miniroos players!

Local NWSF players have the opportunity to develop their skills as part of NWS Spirit FC’s new Rising Spirits program, a foundational player development initative aimed at empowering young, local NWSF Miniroos (U6 and U7 players) through football. Designed to foster a love of the game in a fun and inclusive setting, the program reflects the club’s commitment to our community, and providing pathways for players to progress towards representative football programs.

On Monday afternoons (4.30pm to 5.30pm) at at our all-weather synthetic fields at Christie Park, Rising Spirits offers U6/U7 players the crucial opportunity to build confidence and improve their game under the guidance of experienced NWS Spirit FC coaches. With a focus on safe, engaging sessions, the program nurtures both individual talent and team collaboration, ensuring every player feels supported on their journey. It will run on a term-by-term basis, with the inaugural intake commencing on Monday 3rd February.

Aligned with Spirit FC’s broader mission to inspire and develop players in the NWSF community, Rising Spirits is more than just a training program—it’s a chance to connect with the local football community and discover the joy of the game!

North West Sydney Football announces PHILLIP BROWN as Chief Executive Officer

The Board of NWSF is delighted to announce Phillip Brown has been appointed as our new CEO.

Phillip joins us from Football St George (“FSG”), where he served as CEO for the past three years, overseeing a period of significant change and achievement.

Previously he held CEO and senior management roles with other sporting organisations including the Asian Football Confederation, Football Australia, Capital Football, and Football NSW.

During this time, Phillip was responsible for business planning, budgeting, staff management and development, board reporting, engaging with government and stakeholders.

In addition, during his spell as CEO of Capital Football and Canberra United (a professional women’s football team competing in the national W-League competition) he led the successful delivery of large-scale local football competitions, talented player pathways, reviews of elite and community competitions, referee education programs, coach education programs, inclusive football programs, and managed key stakeholders in the pursuit and delivery of association strategic plans.

On being appointed Phillip said:

“I have been involved in NWSF from a young child until today as a player and have also previously held a committee role for over 13 years at Epping YMCA (now Epping FC).

“As NWSF’s new CEO, I will have come full circle – back to my footballing home. It is an honour to have been appointed to the role and I now look forward to working with the Board, staff, member clubs and the NWSF football community to help drive football forward to its rightful place as Australia’s preeminent sport.

“Our region is renowned, not only for a great history and passion for the game, but for its great footballing culture that has established football as the number one sport in north-west Sydney.

“I look forward to harnessing the passion and enthusiasm evident within our Member Clubs, and our proudly local NWS Spirit FC, as we strive together to deliver the best product and experience for all our participants, regardless of what level they engage at.”

Phillip will commence as NWSF CEO on 6 January 2025.

Ryde Panthers U14/1s progress to Champions of Champions Grand Final!

Congratulations to the Ryde Panthers MU14’s who have made it to the Grand Finals of Champion of Champions.

Our WPL Flying Bats team and WU14 All Saints Hunters Hill also performed well in the Champion of Champions tournament and made the semi-finals, only to be knocked out yesterday. Congratulations to both teams for making it so far.

The 14s Grand Final takes place this Saturday 19th October at Valentine Sports Park between Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders SC v Ryde Panthers FC, with kick-off at 8.15am.

We encourage our NWSF community to cheer on the Ryde Panthers U14s!

NWSF completes second C Diploma for 2024

North West Sydney Football recently wrapped up its second C Diploma course for 2024, designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of aspiring coaches in the region. This course focused on essential coaching methodologies, player development strategies, and effective game management. Participants engaged in practical sessions, theory classes, and collaborative discussions, creating a dynamic learning environment.

The course was presented by Victoria Martin (NWS Spirit FC; local club Beecroft Wombats) and Tim Palmer. There was a diverse group of candidates, from NWSF coaches eager to improve their skills to more experienced individuals looking to formalize their coaching qualifications.

NWSF is thankful for the support of Football NSW to deliver these C Diplomas at Christie Park, greatly enhancing the accessibility for our local coaches to progress in their coach development. Those interested in future C Diplomas can register their interest at the following link.

 

NWSF Champions of Champions get underway for 2024!

NWSF are proud of all the teams representing the association in the Football NSW Champions of Champions.

The Football NSW Champions of Champions is a prestigious annual tournament where the top teams from various Football NSW associations compete for the title. Starting in 1968, it features different age groups and genders, showcasing the best football talent across the state. It’s a knockout competition where the champions from each association face off in a series of matches, culminating in the crowning of the ultimate Champion of Champions.

NWS Spirit FC announces trial dates for 2025 programs!

NWS Spirit FC has confirmed trial dates for various programs in the 2025 season.

NWS Spirit FC’s Junior Development League (JDL), formerly known as SAP, trials will take place on Sunday October 13 at Christie Park. This is for players who live in the NWSF association or played for a local NWSF club to progress to a full-time representative program. There is a Mixed SAP program for U9 to U12 players, and a Womens SAP program for U10 to U13 players. Full information can be found here.

NWS Spirit FC’s Womens Youth League (WYL) will also hold trials in October. WYL is a full-time representative program for talented female players that competes in Football NSW competitions and train three nights a week. The competition season is 27 rounds, and includes a finals series, taking place from March to September. Please note due to a high retention rate of existing players, positions in these squads are currently limited. At these trials, we will consider for these final positions and will also be selecting NWSF pathway player positions, which enable a player to train twice a week with a WYL squad while still playing for their local NWSF club. Full details can be found here.

NWSF’s Association Youth League (AYL) is a full-time representative program that competes in Football NSW competitions. AYL teams train three times a week until May, and then twice a week from May to October. The competition season is 27 rounds, and includes a finals series, taking place from March to September. It is closely linked to NWS Spirit FC and complements our representative pathway as the connection between our local NWSF clubs, and NPL. Full details can be found here.

Sign up for NWSF’s summer player development programs!

NWSF is excited to announce a wide variety of opportunities for our local association players to develop their football during the summer!

This includes Summer Academy (group training for players selected in the 2024 Winter Academy), Summer Development Centres (a non-selective group training program for U6 to U14 players) as well as Summer Academy X-Factor (smaller group, individual-specific sessions).

This all runs alongside our summer football programs where you can play competitive six-a-side with your mates!
