NWSF delivers successful July tournaments!

North West Sydney Football recently hosted two fantastic youth tournaments at Christie Park in the school holidays, bringing together over 25 local MiniRoos and junior teams for a day of competitive, community-based football.

Held on July 18, the MiniRoos Gala Day for U6 and U7 teams, featured 4v4 matches a lively community atmosphere centered entirely around participation and enjoyment. Concurrently, the U8–U9s Cup gave players a taste of a more structured competition while keeping the focus on development. Mixed and girls-only teams competed in 7v7 fixtures, with each team playing up to seven games, with trophies, and MILO giveaways enhancing the experience.

All games were refereed by NWS Spirit FC’s qualified Youth League players as part of our representative pathway’s emphasis on proudly local. The event was also facilitated by NWS Spirit FC leadership staff as part of our integrated ecosystem.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, from players, families, volunteers, and coaches. These events reflect NWSF’s commitment to year-round, football-for-all experiences that build community, develop young talent, and celebrate the joy of the game

Looking ahead, NWSF is already gearing up for future tournaments in October, of which you can find out more by clicking here.

Ryde Panthers take out the Football NSW State Cup!

North West Sydney Football extends congratulations to our local club, Ryde Panthers, and their U15-1s team, who were crowned State Cup champions on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win in the final.

In a tightly contested match, the Panthers showed composure and commitment from start to finish, with a single early goal proving the difference. The result caps off their State Cup campaign and highlights the strength of their side following on from their Grand Final appearance in last year’s Champions of Champions.

It’s a proud moment for the club and a reflection of the hard work of the players, coaches, and community behind the scenes.

A successful Winter Holiday Clinic complete at Christie Park

The Winter Holiday Clinics, held from July 14 to 16 at Christie Park, drew excited young players from across North West Sydney for three jam-packed days of skills, games, and football confidence-building. The clinics are designed for U6 through U18 players, with tailored sessions across Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.

Led by qualified and enthusiastic NWS Spirit FC coaches, players sharpened core technical actions and experienced our trademark “DNA” approach: high-energy, fun-focused, and proudly community‑driven.

What’s next?

  • Keep an eye out for Term 3 Development Centres starting July 25, offering weekly coaching sessions through the remainder of the season.

  • Stay tuned for Summer programs launching soon, with information on our website

Huge thanks to all who took part! We look forward to more football fun and community connection in future programs.

NWSF celebrates the 2025 Conference!

The NWSF Conference, held on Monday, July 7, 2025, transformed Christie Park into the hub for coach education and player development across North West Sydney. A strong lineup of local NWSF coaches gathered for a dynamic lineup of both practical and theory-led sessions, earning two CPD hours towards their revalidation of licences, while sharing ideas, challenges, and vision within our community.

This year’s highlight was the exceptional speaker panel. Headlining the evening were Tom Sermanni (former Matildas, USA and New Zealand head coach), Alex Epakis (Young Matildas head coach), and Alex Watson (Academy Technical Lead at Sydney FC). Their insights spanned elite international coaching to youth development frameworks, all tied together under the conference theme of “empowering players”.

Congratulations to local NWSF clubs Roselea FC and Flying Bats, who were recognised by Football NSW for contributing the most coaches to the event, and awarded with a free SportsSessionPlanner licence for their commitment to coach education.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, calling it the “signature event” of the NWSF coach education calendar. NWSF was excited to announce plans to expand the Conference in 2026 and beyond, maximising the opportunity for local coaches to connect and learn as part of an integrated football ecosystem.

Ryde Panthers U15-1s to feature in the 2025 State Cup final!

The Ryde Panthers U15-1s, under the guidance of coach Nav Singh, have secured a spot in the 2025 State Cup final, scheduled for Sunday, July 13, at Valentine Sports Park . This achievement follows their impressive run to the Champions of Champions grand final last year, where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Belrose Terrey-Hills Raiders SC.

The upcoming final presents an opportunity for the Panthers to claim a state cup and build upon their previous successes under coach Nav Singh.

Ryde Panthers President Kim Clifton highlighted that “we are extremely proud of the team. They have worked extremely hard to get this far, not to mention they are also a nice bunch of lads. Navjot (Nav) Singh is one of the best ‘C’ Licence coaches at the Club. Testament to the fact that he dedicates a great deal of time and effort to the team. Nav gets great support from Assistant Coach, Gareth Chandler and the Team’s Manager, Andrew Abram.”

“Last year, as U14.1 team won the Premiership, and were runners up in the Champion of Champions, in their 3rd attempt at the title. A worthy recipient of the inaugural NWSF ‘Bill Plaskett Trophy’ for the best First Division Team in the Association. Well done to all!”

The entire North West Sydney Football community is encouraged to support the Panthers at Valentine Sports Park on July 13. Kick-off is on VSP Field 3 at 9.45am, and we encourage our NWSF community to get out and support!
