North West Sydney Football is dedicated to developing goalkeepers across our association. Led by our NWS Spirit FC’s Head of Senior Goalkeeping Ken Greenhead, and Head of Junior & Youth Goalkeeping Chris Marques, we provide a variety of goalkeeping sessions, workshops and resources to support NWSF clubs and players.

Goalkeeping Essentials

Delivered by NWS Spirit FC coaches and players, our local NWSF club goalkeepers get free goalkeeper training, and local coaches receive goalkeeper coach education. This links into our goalkeeper pathway to provide opportunities for players to develop and progress into representative programs.

Foundations of Goalkeeping

The Foundations of Goalkeeping is for all coaches who want to coach goalkeepers in your teams with best practice or to become your clubs GK coach. You will learn how to create positive learning environments for goalkeepers.It is designed as the first accreditation step for coaches, parents or volunteers who work with, or plan to work with goalkeepers of any standard across the country.

The training is designed with the player in mind and is based on how goalkeeper sessions should be delivered: safely and effectively and with a sense of fun. After completing the course, the student will be able to: Identify the training needs of goalkeepers, identify ways to make training inclusive for all participants, implement basic goalkeeper coaching principles, and create engaging goalkeeper sessions.

The course is delivered as a one-day commitment.

We deliver two Foundations of Goalkeeping courses each year, which can be found on the FA Learning Platform.
