Association Youth League (AYL)

2013 was the inaugural year of the Regional Conference, initiated as an outcome of the FNSW Competitions Review to provide a development opportunity for aspiring footballers between grassroots football and the FNSW National Premier League Men’s competitions. In 2017 this was renamed the Association Youth League and is comprised of Football Associations affiliated to Football NSW. The competition is offered to boys in the age groups of U13, U14, U15, U16 and 18.

AYL players play every weekend from March to September and do not play for their local club.

Squads are for Under 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 Age Groups and complement existing FNSW NPL Men’s 1 & 2 squads at these Age Groups, and as preparation and transition squads for FNSW NPL Youth squads.

AYL players must come from local NWSF Clubs deliver benefits to the local NWSF member Clubs:

  • the players receive special training and experience that they can ultimately take back to the Clubs
  • NWS Spirit FC have the opportunity to observe and train potential representative grade players
  • NWS Spirit FC has greater opportunity to work with new, qualified coaches
