NWSF celebrating Female Football Week in 2024

North West Sydney Football (NWSF) proudly celebrates Female Football Week, a dedicated time to recognize and honor the contributions of women in the sport. As part of the festivities, NWSF hosts a series of special events and initiatives aimed at promoting female participation and empowerment in football.

The week kicks off with the NWSF Academy trials for female players on Friday, May 3. Our renowned Academy provides local club players with an additional training session to develop their NWSF DNA in fun, engaging football environments. On Saturday, May 4, NWS Spirit FC Womens First Grade is the NPL Match of the Round! Local and representative players are invited to come together to support our Spirit FC First Grade side, including activations from Football NSW and networking opportunity for female club contacts! This event is from 2.30pm onwards at Christie Park. Depending on the outcome of the A-League Womens Grand Final, this may also include a watch party at Christie.

At the heart of the celebrations is the NWSF Special Presentation / Female Football Week. This event serves as a platform to bring together local, state and national football experts for a special night of learning and networking. Special presenters  from Football Australia’s national teams, Football NSW, Sydney FC and A-League clubs will form an insightful panel at Christie Park, on Monday, May 6, starting from 7.30pm. Moreover, NWSF offers exclusive opportunities for female football enthusiasts through its Female Football People / Live Mentoring Session. In this interactive session, our leading female Spirit FC and special guest coaches will take you through insights into coaching. This year, this will run LIVE at Christie Park to encourage networking and support! It starts 6.30pm on Tuesday, May 7, at Christie Park. Register now at https://form.jotform.com/240587473068869.

On Thursday May 10, NWS Spirit FC’s Head of Nutrition will deliver a Special Presentation / Nutrition challenges facing female athletes. This will deliver insights into common challenges faced by female athletes in nutrition, including the menstrual cycle and performance, RED-S, and general nutrition strategies for women. Join on Zoom at 6pm via this link.

For aspiring & new coaches, NWSF will deliver a Miniroos Certificate sessions exclusively for female coaches. This is the course all U6 to U8 coaches should attend, providing an introduction into how to create an environment where players can learn the game through enjoyment. This course is for female coaches only to celebrate Female Football Week. It’s on Friday, May 10, at Christie Park, 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
