West Pennant Hills successfully defend title

West Pennant Hills

West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC has successfully defended their NWSF Premier League 1st Grade success of 2022 with a comprehensive title win in 2023.

The Lions finished 13 points ahead of their nearest challengers Epping Eastwood and St Patricks in what was titanic battle for the minor placings going into the final round.

Four teams entered the final round on 26 points to secure the final three spots in the finals, with Epping Eastwood, St Pats and Normanhurst Eagles securing finals berths, with West Ryde Rovers the team to miss out.

It wasn’t all bad news for Rovers though, with their Reserve Grade team capturing the Premiership title on goal difference from Pennant Hills. Also securing places in the finals was West Pennant Hills and Macquarie Dragons.

West Pennant Hills finished their Premiership campaign with a 2-1 over Normanhurst, who narrowly scrapped into 4th spot, despite the loss. Epping Eastwood had an emphatic 5-0 win over Hills Hawks, while St Pats, came from the clouds over the past two months of the competition and got through to the finals after a 1-0 win over Eastwood St Andrews. Rovers were involved in the most exciting clash of the final day, but eventually went down 4-3 in a thriller against Macquarie Dragons.

The finals for Premier League will kick-off on August 12 with the Grand Final on Saturday August 26 at Christie Park.
