The Board of NSWF is delighted to announce Matthew Geracitano has been appointed as our new CEO.
Current CEO Jeremy Toivonen indicated his intention to conclude his term with NWSF towards the end of 2022. We take this opportunity to thank Jeremy for his contributions to NWSF since joining in 2021. Jeremy’s tenure has featured a period of significant disruption to our game through the pandemic and uncontrollable weather events. Since Jeremy announced his departure, the NWSF Board has been through an intensive recruitment process. We received impressive applications from around Australia and overseas, from candidates with a broad range of corporate and sporting backgrounds.
Incoming CEO Matthew Geracitano has served for the past 6 years as Chief Executive Officer for Sporting Shooters Association of Australia, Sydney Inc. representing over 34,000 members. Matthew has also worked in Senior Executive positions across health care and in the community services industry. Matthew brings significant experience in member engagement, compliance, finance and facilities management along with his life long passion and love for our beautiful game of football. On being appointed Matthew said:
“I am passionate about football, having been involved in the game as a player for over 30 years and I am very excited to be working in a sport that I truly love”
“I am honoured to have been appointed to the role and I cannot wait to get started. I am very much looking forward to working with the Board, staff, member clubs and football community to help drive the sport forward and harness the passion and enthusiasm for the game that we all witnessed during the Socceroos successful world cup campaign, and also looking forward to leveraging the FIFA Women’s World Cup here in our own backyard in July and August 2023.”
Matthew will commence as NSWF CEO on 30 January 2023, and will benefit from partnering with Jeremy who will remain with us for a few more weeks
