Member clubs voted in Chris Salmon on Monday, the 17th of October to fill the casual vacancy due to Helen Armson’s recent resignation from her position on the NWSF Board.
Chris’s long and extensive experience with grassroots football within the local region started as a manager for his son’s under-7 team in 2005. Since then, Chris has held positions as Mini-Football Coordinator, Director of Coaching, Vice-President, Club President (at Epping Eastwood Football Club), and NWSF Delegate. Chris has coached teams from under-8 to under-21 and All-Age Women, has played for 16 seasons in the Over-35 and Over-45 competitions and has been an active referee for three years. As President of Epping Eastwood FC, he successfully re-introduced girls’ and women’s teams to the club.
Chris is also heavily involved in the NWSF coach education programs, running and assisting with the community-level coaching courses every year.
Chris was instrumental on the GHFA committee that completely revised the competition by-laws in 2014 and was awarded the Association Medal in recognition of that contribution. He has also been a member of the GHFA/NWSF Grading Committee for the past 13 years, contributed to tribunals and, for the past two years, been one of the three members of the Disciplinary Committee.
“After seven years as President of Epping Eastwood FC, I am resigning from that position to devote my full attention to the new role, free from the day-to-day distractions of heading up a football club.” Chris stated.
“I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at NWSF.” he added.
“I hope I can make a difference and help keep our Association at the forefront of community sport.”
